As a wedding photographer I am fortunate to get to see the worlds best locations and architecture and the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel (“Hapuna” means spring of life) is one of the best of all on the Big Island. When you drive down the drive way to this grand stately entrance, past manicured rows of 100 foot tall palm trees. You park and from the second your feet hit the ground you are treated like a rock star on the set of a James Bond movie. It is perfect for events and weddings with many locations, I love it for portraits because I have so many backgrounds to shoot with and an incredible white sand beach.
Starting with the entrance it is just spectacular, opening up to an unmatched view of the whitest sand and bluest ocean framed by tropical landscaping, it is heaven especially when fine Hawaiian music is being played in the lounge below.
Here’s a few shots of the soon to be remodeled Hapuna Prince, built in 1994 completing Laurance Rockefellers dream started over 50 years ago with the Mauna Kea Beach Resort.
The Hapuna Prince is going under a 6 month 50 million upgrade throughout the resort, no word on Arnold Palmers golf course.
I’ve heard of a few of the changes and it sounds like it’s going to be something incredibly special. Big changes in the dining experience and the pool as well. More photos to come.  Happy Hump Day!
