“Painting with light”, photographers have used this term for almost 200 years. Here are a few of my latest attempts at this ancient art form.
The wave shot is lit by me running along the 40’ cliff with a tiny mag-light, clicking it on and off to the water below during my 30 sec exposure. Any longer would have blurred the stars and a slip would have blurred me.
The image of the Banana leaves is illuminated by me waving a BIC BBQ lighter while seated in a lounge chair on the driveway. I like the warmer tones compared to the mag-lite. It’s a work in progress.
On the Big Island (yes that is Hawaii ) the Milky way is best photographed during the summer months. With the VOG (volcanic haze) being gone she is visible a bit all year. I didn’t plan on learning Astrophotography, but it looks like I am.
Elvis doesn’t like me taking time to take pictures during the day and even less at night, so it’s time to learn a new trick for us old dogs.
More images to come.
Happy Hump Day!
