Kona Nightingale

 Kona Nightingale

This oldie is of a group of Kona Nightingales headed across the highway for a drink and lick of salt at the old Kona Village Resort. Interesting, this mustang rental car just stopped in the middle of the highway for a picture, a crazy thought today with our traffic.
Without the nightingale there would be no Kona coffee; their farmers loved them for their hard work, sure footedness, loyalty and nighttime braying (singing).
Then WWII, GIs and the Willys Jeep arrived on the Big Island, changing the coffee industry forever and setting the future demise of the Kona Nightingales in motion.
More on this to come.

Happy Hump day.

Aloha, The Baldwins
