Children with Canons – Throwback Hump Day

I absolutely love putting a huge expensive Canon camera in the hands of a child. Yes, they all know how to use an iPhone and are well versed in the “smile for the camera pose”. From the first time in the crib til graduation day, they are in control of the “smiles”. This gives them power over the Portrait Photographer (“Me” – Uncle Beach) and when they want to turn it OFF, they can in an instant. Which can stop all our fun.
So, if I get a youngin whom has had enough of “Uncle Beach” and doesn’t want to smile or even sit for “just one shot”: This is when I jump into action and put the Big Cool Canon Camera & a 70-200mm f/2.8 Zoom in their little hands.
I throw the camera on machine gun mode so it fires off 10 shots a second as I coach the nervous parents on where to pose for the best shot. Yes, the kids get to shoot their parents for a change and they love it. Instantly the parents start goofing around while posing on command, as their precious children shoot a heavy $9,000 camera.
When their little fingers hit that shutter they light up like a volcano as I quickly (Wiki Wiki) grab the shot of the new young photographers in action. This has become our trade mark style and not once has the camera hit the sand. It’s magically hysterical chaos that delivers priceless timeless impactful images that become adored wall art.
I think I miss this the most.
Aloha Hump Day!
